The Sites page in smoxy provides a central place to manage and monitor the configuration, performance, and status of your web domains. Each site groups together multiple domains under a unified set of traffic rules, caching, load balancing, and security settings. This page allows you to view all your configured sites and manage their associated domains efficiently.
The Sites page lists all the sites you’ve set up in smoxy. Each site represents a collection of configuration settings that are applied to the domains assigned to it. The page displays key information for each site, such as:
Name: The name of the site.
Tag: A label, such as prod or dev, to help categorize your environments (production, development, etc.).
Total Requests: The total number of requests handled by the site over the past week.
Cache Hits: The number of cache hits for both images and HTML content over the past week, indicating the effectiveness of your caching configurations.
This overview helps you quickly assess how each site is performing and how well your caching strategies are working.
For each site, you’ll see a list of the domains assigned to it. smoxy organizes domains and their subdomains in a hierarchical structure, ensuring that subdomains are grouped under their respective parent domains. This makes it easier to manage multiple subdomains and provides a clear, organized view of all the domains under each site.
Each domain has a State column, which provides information about its current setup status:
All setup & good: Indicates that the SSL certificate has been generated, and the domain’s CNAME or A record points to smoxy, meaning traffic is being routed through smoxy as expected.
Continue setup steps: The setup process for the domain is incomplete. You can click this status to continue the setup and finish configuring the domain.
No CNAME or IP point to smoxy: This means that the domain’s DNS settings are not yet directing traffic to smoxy, so no traffic is being routed through smoxy.
These status indicators help you track the setup progress of each domain and ensure that everything is configured properly.
If you need to change the configuration of a domain, such as moving it to a different site, you can use the Edit action next to the domain in the list. This will open a detailed configuration page where you can manage the domain’s settings.
On the domain’s configuration page, you’ll find a dropdown menu that allows you to reassign the domain to a different site. Selecting a different site will apply the new site’s configurations (such as caching, load balancing, and security settings) to the domain. This is especially useful when moving a domain between environments, such as from development to production. After changing the site, smoxy will automatically apply the new settings to the domain.
This feature allows you to manage domains more efficiently by switching configurations without needing to manually adjust every setting for each domain.
You can also add new sites or domains through the Sites page. When adding a domain, you’ll need to assign it to an existing site. The domain will then adopt the site’s configuration, ensuring consistency in how traffic is handled and optimized.
If a site is no longer needed, you can delete it. However, smoxy does not immediately remove deleted sites. Instead, deleted sites are temporarily stored in the Recently Deleted section, allowing you to restore them if needed. This feature prevents accidental data loss and ensures that you can recover configurations quickly if necessary.
The Sites page not only helps you manage domains but also provides insights into your site’s performance. You can track the total number of requests each site has received and monitor how effective your caching configurations are by reviewing the number of cache hits for images and HTML content. This gives you a high-level view of how well each site is performing.
For more detailed performance data, when you enter a specific site’s configuration, you’ll find a dedicated sidebar for site management. One of the key features in this sidebar is the Dashboard, which provides more in-depth information on traffic, cache efficiency, and other metrics. The dashboard gives you a clearer understanding of how the site is handling traffic, how often your caching rules are being applied, and where potential improvements can be made.
